Ishnala Texas is located in a 55+ gated community in rural Mercedes, Texas. We named our home "Ishnala" when we lived at the Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. (Ishnala is an Indian word meaning peaceful or beautiful place by the water) So when we retired in April, 2006 and moved to the Rio Grande Valley, Texas we kept the name, thus "Ishnala Texas". We think the name is still appropriate since we live directly across the street from the swimming pool ;-)Llano Grande Resort Park, the community we live in, is just minutes from the fun in Mexico and also only a few minutes from the beach at South Padre Island. A true tropical paradise. The larger cities near us are McAllen to the west and Harlingen to the east. They have all the shopping and restaurants you could ever want. Plus Mercedes has just recently acquired a big Outlet Mall.Lest you think that we are lazy in our retirement......we are more busy now than ever!
